Why come to counselling?
Life can throw some challenges at us that we sometimes find difficult to deal with on our own.
Counselling is a safe place where you are met with acceptance, warmth and empathy to help you express, process and untangle pent up emotions that are making life feel a bit too much to bear on your own.
I am an experienced Person-Centred counsellor and my practice is based in Eastbourne, East Sussex. I feel strongly about the principles of the Person-Centred approach because I believe that there is that innate drive within us to want to grow, to strive for our psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual potential so that we may live a balanced and autonomous life.
I have been using Skype and email counselling for nearly a year now and I found how invaluable this modern way of counselling useful for people who can't physically get to therapy rooms to seek help.
I offer a non-judgmental, warm, empathic and safe environment where you can freely express and process the issues that are making life difficult for you.
I'm passionate about children's welfare and their families and I currently work as a volunteer giving emotional and practical support to young families who are in crisis. I truly believe in giving children a good start in life by giving them guidance, love, nurturing and boundaries which will have a positive impact on their future.
I do hope I have given you enough information about myself and what I do and I look forward to working with you.
Other Experience
In my therapy, I incorporate Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, an approach that makes you mindful of the present moment, noting feelings without judgment of the self but just letting be. I find this approach self-freeing and it can help reduce stress and anxieties.
I am a trained Play/Creative Therapist of which approach is geared towards the needs of children. Because children have limited vocabulary to express their thoughts and feelings and they lack the cognitive ability to process the difficulties that are placed upon them, Play and Creative Therapy is a coping mechanism which can help self expression and aids the development of self-responsibility and self-control and self-esteem.
Creative Therapy with the use of stones and art media are tools that I also use to make therapy more interesting. It also helps to articulate difficult feelings.
I worked with a number of charity organizations which include Care for the Carers, The Place2Be and I'm currently working for Macmillan Cancer Support and Home-Start.
